22.5 Degree Bevel Octagon

This chamfered molding was designed to manufacture an octagon with eight pieces of wood measuring 1-1/8" in thickness; widths are adjustable to desired sizes. The profile in the center of the picture retains a 22.5-degree bevel on both side edges. To assemble simply place horizontal pieces of 3M or Scotch # 355 packing tape (this tape will not stretch) across the joints to bring them together, then place a strip of tape down the entire joint vertically, and another piece over the taped joint on each side, flip the boards over after taping, place a bead of glue into the V joint, now fold the boards in a rolling fashion securing the final piece with another piece of tape. After drying, use Naptha to dissolve the glue; that way you won't raise the grain or cause damage to the wood.
