41.5 Degree Back Bevel Cutter

This 41.5 degree back bevel cutter is designed to mill a forty-one and one-half degree chamfer on the right side of a piece of crown, cove, or bed molding. These knives create only half the determining factor of the final height and projection of the molding when installed, it is purposely back cut one-half a degree to help offset any slight cupping after milling. The other half of the equation is generally a degree that combined equals ninety or slightly more.

On this back cut layout in the image above the maximum depth of cut is .732", the maximum height of cut is set at .828". Every crown, cove or bed molding we design have height numbers near the degree of the angle on the layout paperwork we supply. That number must be smaller than the height number, in this case, .828" for this knife to be able to cut the entire height of the bevel while milling, if not please select a larger size height bevel of the same degree. We intentionally design all our crown, cove, and bed moldings with forty-five-degree bevels and under to be milled on the right vertical spindle, and, all forty-five degree and higher back bevels to be milled on the left vertical spindle.
