All of these types of designs we layout have height numbers near the degree of cut, that number must be smaller than the height number in the image above, in this example 1.256" for this knife to be able to cut the entire angle while milling, if not please select a larger size height bevel of the same degree. We design all our back bevels with forty-five degree and under milled on the right vertical spindle and all forty-five degree and higher angles milled on the left vertical cutter head. This custom design practice will save thousands of dollars in manufacturing cost over the years. Read our commentary about axial constant positioning for crown, cove and bed moldings, this article will help you dial any profile in axially on the first try when milling, provided the machine is axially calibrated.
For knife quoting purposes use the calculator below, we have added only the important measurements, just determine the cutters you need. A brief detailed explanation on how to use the calculator is located here. Need some assistance with the dimensions? Print a copy of our fraction - decimal - millimeter chart, place it on the moulder to help operators save time and increase accuracy during machine setup.
Thickness = 1.750" / Depth of Cut = 1.131" (right blades).
