On this moulding cutter layout the maximum depth of cut is .375", the maximum height of cut is fixed at .375". Every sprung moulding, we design have a height of cut number near the degree bevel on the layout papers we provide, that dimension must be smaller than the height number, in this equation .375" for this knife to be able to cut the entire back bevel while milling, if not please select a larger size bevel of the same degree. We intentionally design all our sprung mouldings of forty-five-degree and below to be milled on the right vertical spindle, and all forty-five-degree back bevels and higher to be milled on the left vertical spindle. This custom design practice will save thousands of dollars in manufacturing cost over the years, as well as moulder setup time.
Our purple colored ceramic blend grinding wheel hogging at 2000 rpm, with a twenty-five-degree back clearance angle will rough grind a set of high-speed steel moulding cutters in a minimal amount of time. Read our article on the importance of having the profile knife grinder perfectly level, this commentary will insure prolonged use of your machinery while maintaining consistent perfection when grinding moulding knives.
