Crown 3-7/16" - 9

This 3-7/16" - 9 Greek echinus crown mould measures 3.437" wide by 1.312" thick, requiring six-quarter lumber for milling. The ovolo-shaped profile is an important prominent supporting profile installed under the abacus that supports the architrave of a Doric or Ionic order capital. The custom profile is composed of an 11/32" tall vertical line that will create a sunk fillet when the abacus is installed on top, connected to a three tangent radius elliptical shaped arc in the center, attached to a 9/32" tall by 29/64" wide squared lines at the bottom of the pattern. The spring angles are fixed at 35 and 55 degrees; these specific back bevels set the installed height at 2-7/32" and a projection of 3-1/64".

The center bead of the profile is the hold-down point of the moulding when milled sprung (lying horizontally flat); we recommend wrapping the metal hold-down element on the machine in felt to help eliminate any unsightly burnish mark that may be left on the face of the finished molding.
