This Beautiful Crown Moulding 3-3/4" – 4 measures 3.750" wide by .750" thickness with a depth of cut of .515" on the right vertical back bevel cutters, .743" on the left back bevel blades, and .470" depth of cut on the top horizontal moulding knives.
The gorgeous profile is comprised of a cyma recta flanked by vertical fillets, connected to a 5/32" radius quarter round circle at the top of the pattern, the lower portion of the design consists of 9/16" wide by 9/16" tall notched fillet, attached to a two tangent radius ogee flanked by small horizontal fillets at the bottom of the pattern. The spring angles are fixed at thirty-eight and fifty-two degrees, search our bevels category by these degrees to find two back bevel cutters appropriate for this lovely crown moulding design, these specific back bevels set the installed height at 2-29/32" tall with a projection of 2-3/8" wide. Four high points in the detail were intentionally positioned on the same level plane, this design feature will assure excellent hold down conditions while milling the detail on an industrial moulder, providing the moulder pressure shoe is properly set parallel to the moulder bed plates.
Please read our commentary about axial constant position for crown moulding bevels, the article will help you dial this profile in axially on the first try when milling this detail on an industrial moulder, provided the moulder is axially calibrated.
