Crown Moulding 9"

Crown Moulding 9"

This large crown moulding 9" measures 9.000" wide by 1.500" thickness. The beautiful profile is comprised of a 4-41/64" radius cove in the center, attached to a 5/16" tall vertical line with an 11/16" quarter round circle on top. The lower portion consists of a 9/16" radius convex arc tangent off of a 3/4" concave semicircle creating a cyma reversa or ogee, joined to a 21/64" wide horizontal fillet above and a 7/16" wide horizontal fillet at the bottom of the pattern.

The spring angles are fixed at forty-five degrees, these specific back cuts set the installed height at 6-13/32" tall with a projection of 6-5/16" wide. Read our commentary about axial constant positioning for crown bevels, the article will help you dial this profile in axially on the first try when milling this detail provided the machine is axially calibrated. Five high points in the design were intentionally positioned on the same level plane, this specific design feature will assure excellent hold down conditions while milling the detail on an industrial moulder, providing the pressure shoe is parallel to the machine's bed plates.

For knife quoting purposes use the calculator below, we have added only the important measurements, just determine the cutters you need. A brief detailed explanation on how to use the calculator is located here. Need some assistance with the dimensions? Print a copy of our fraction - decimal - millimeter chart, place it on the moulder to help operators save time and increase accuracy during machine setup.

Width = 9.000" / Depth of Cut = .937" (top knives).

Thickness = 1.500" / Depth of Cut = 1.136" (right blades) & 1.203" (left cutters).
