This modest 2-1/2" - 42 handrail measures 2.500" in width by 1.750" in thickness, allowing 2-3/4" wide blanks of eight-quarter lumber for machining on a commercial moulder. Due to the knife design and milling from both vertical cutter heads, width changes are possible to any desired size. The contemporary profile comprises a 2-9/64" wide flat top flanked by 1/4" wide splay-faced forty-five-degree chamfers. The sides retain a 27/32" vertical section joined to a semi-concave area serving as the finger grip with 3/64" eased corners at the bottom. The pattern is machined face down, so the guide fence after the left cutter head rests on a flat surface, eliminating leaving an indentation in the finger grip area.
