Bullnose 15/32"

This 15/32" bullnose measures .468" thickness. This detail is milled on the right vertical spindle so that the moulder's guide fence after the left cutter head will indent and damage the nosing from the sharp edge of the metal guide fence. Widths are adjustable to any desired size within the machine's milling parameters. The profile comprises a 15/64" radius half-round circle with a generous blend area on each side edge of the pattern. Bullnose knife designs are not intended for milling half-round profiles because the extra blend area in the cutter's design creates a larger cutting area. This extra blade extension would come into contact with the machinery's bedplates if milled from the top horizontal spindle. The opposite is true for half round details, they are milled from the top horizontal spindle, the cutters will come within .020" of the machines bedplates, they do not have any blend area built into the cutter design, so, if you try to mill a bullnose with these types of blades, you will experience parallel knife edge cuts if the wood moves during the machining process, rendering the product unsellable.
