This customary 3" - 16 handrail measures 3.000" wide by 2.125" thickness, necessitating glued-up pieces of four, five, six, or eight-quarter lumber for milling on an industrial molder. The famous traditional profile is composed of two bidirectional 9.046-degree beveled lines with 1/4" radius edges on top. The symmetrical sides are comprised of a 25/64" vertical line with a 1/4" rounded edges in the upper portion, tangent to a 45/64" cove that forms the finger grip area in the center, attached to an embellishing 3/8" tall half round bead with a 13/64" vertical fillet on the bottom edges of the design.
