Applied Moulding 1/2"

This 1/2" T-shaped applied moulding measures .500" wide by .250" thick, allowing fall-off rips of four-quarter lumber to be used for milling. The functional profile is composed of a 1/2" wide flat top with 1/8" tall side edges; the bottom consists of a 1/4" wide by 1/8" elevated, slightly tapered vertical line flanked by 1/8" broad line segments. Most industrial moulders come standard with a 5/16" thickness guide fence after the left cutter head on the machine. You will need a 3/16" thickness guide fence so the hold-down shoe doesn't bottom out on the standard guide fence.

Our high-precision acrylic templates and knives include the required draft angles to maintain the ability to sharpen the blades properly without modifying the detail, while simultaneously prolonging the milling time between sharpening. Whether you own a Weinig, Wadkin, Leadermac, SCM, Diehl, or Homag molder, our cutters will mill flawlessly on all of them.

Caution: the knives will come within .020" of the machine bed plates when milling this detail. We recommend using a wooden, phenolic, or plastic sacrificial bed plate for these milling operations. We strongly suggest installing an anti-kickback device on the machinery for safety before attempting milling procedures that split lumber into pieces.
