Tongue & Groove 1-1/4" - 9

This 1-1/4" - 9 tongue & groove hexagon measures 1.250" in thickness, and the width is adjustable to any required size within the limits of the molder or shaper used to mill the pattern. The cutters can mill a thirty-degree bevel on both sides of a piece of lumber measuring 1-1/4" thickness. The tongue and groove are offset to enable the pattern to be milled horizontally flat with the proper draft angles to keep the integrity of the design within tolerances between sharpening.

After machining, six pieces of lumber are glued and banded until dry to create the hexagon in the image above; we purposely left a few thousands inch of void in the joint area for glue to escape from during fabrication. We suggest using Scotch or 3M # 355 tape for tight joints and easy assembly. After the drying process has been completed using a small amount of naphtha/solvent to dissolve the glue on the tape, so it doesn't raise the grain of the lumber, you will be able to create some of the finest-looking hexagon-shaped columns in the industry.
