Bed Mould 5-1/2"

This unique 5-1/2" bed mould measures 5.500" in width by 1.000" in thickness. The custom supporting profile comprises a 3-3/32" radius arc with an attached vertical fillet in the upper two-thirds of the design. It's connected to graceful cyma recta in the lower portion of the pattern. The fixed spring angles are at thirty-eight and fifty-two degrees; these particular back bevels keep the face side of the profile parallel to the wall and ceiling when installed, in addition to locking in the height at 4-25/64" tall with a 3-5/16" projection across the top. The stunning detail measures 5.500" in width by 1.000" in thickness. The recommended rough wood rip-size milling sprung (laying horizontally flat) using five-quarter lumber is 5-3/4" wide.

The only hold-down area while milling the pattern is directly on the radiused arc; we suggest securing a piece of felt on the machine's pressure element to help eliminate any shine or burnish mark left on the finished product. These patterns get generally used in cornice or crown buildups; they all tend to have similar characteristics in regards to the radius arc in the upper portion of the design; the reason is that the angle tends to lead one's eye to the upcoming pattern in the cornice/crown buildup creating a smooth transition. Using a bed mould as a stand-alone crown is acceptable, but crown patterns tend to have squared fillets on the ends, making a terminating point to the design.
